SID on Golf : review of Goldwin AVDP XL Driver
SID Rating :
**** 4/5 A Golden Great
Bought this driver a couple of years back when they were discounted at Direct Golf. For the princely sum of £45 I got a driver that had been advertised at £300 plus. It's a little bit different from your average driver with the sole looking like it's gold plated. It's also a bit different in that the head is milled from aluminium, not your most common of driver metals that!

Pure Gold - The Goldwin AVDP Driver

The Goldwin also differs in it having a pretty heavy swingweight. I personally like a club with a bit of meat in it, my current fave the Titleist 975D although having a titanium head is also a little heavier than a lot of other drivers. The face is also a little closed to encourage a draw (see bottom picture below).

I'm going to do another test-drive on the Golfwin as it's been a while since I've really used it. As I recall it wasn't massively long but was a banker if you wanted to keep the ball in play.

Summary:

  • 11 Degrees Milled Aluminium Clubhead
  • True Temper Dynamic Gold Steel Shaft
  • Draw biased
  • heavy swing weight
  • Golf Pride half cord grip
